~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to admit that I am getting a little antsy waiting for November 1st to com along so we can migrate to Cuba then Mexico for Christmas...  We are safe, we are comfortable and we have met some of the nicest people you could ever hope to find. Yet, each day I see Blowin' Bubbles tied to a dock, I yearn to get going...
In the mean time, we are getting some work done on her that we have been procrastinating on for some time...  Last week my undertaking was to get the 14 winches on the boat serviced.  That means that each one must be completely disassembled, cleaned with mineral spirits and then properly lubed and re-assembled.  The larger winches took about 3 hours each, the medium ones took 2 hours each and tthe small ones took about an hour.  In other words, last week I took almost 30 hours and got them all working they way they should.  As I went through them, there were two broken spring brackets in the 4 three speed winches, 4 broken pall springs and more than a dozen palls that were seized... It looks like whoever did the work previously, didn't use the proper lubricants which made for most of the problems that I encountered...  That said, they are all back together and working well...  I job that needed doing.
The last two major undertakings that we would like to take care of before we leave the USA is to re-paint the deck and to re-varnish the bright-work...  Now they are crappy jobs...  We will have to pace ourselves...
In the mean time, the folks here at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club put on a "Low Country Boil" on Saturday night and the food was awesome!  Shrimp, sausage. potatoes and corn...  What a meal, especially when everyone who came brought along something like a salad or desert.  It made us feel like we were home at a church supper! Except for the beer, folks down here sure drink a lot... Oh well, they are always having fun...
After supper most nights I make Shelley walk with me to McDonald's where we buy a $1.49 Sundae each and then walk along the boardwalk around the marina to exercise it off...  Ice cream is my downfall!
Lastly, I need to show you what some folks do to satisfy their need to fish...  Not everyone has a boat, so this enterprising company herds a bunch of people on to this boat, then takes them a few hundred yards from shore (usually in the main shipping channel) where they all drop a line overboard...  I believe even stupid fish would see this as a trap?  More Later...
Cheers!
